Amador Youth Basketball League’s Return to Play Guidelines

The following guidelines detail a plan of action created by the Governing Board of Amador Youth Basketball (AYB) with the intent of returning to play and limiting COVID – 19 exposures. This plan focuses on return to play guidelines for practices held on Amador County Unified School District indoor courts. The execution of this plan will be completed by AYB Board Members, Referees and League approved Coach Volunteers.  
 All participants should be screened for symptoms before each practice/competition. Anyone with any symptoms should stay at home and not be allowed to participate for a minimum of 10 days, or until they have been cleared by a healthcare provider. Players/families who have had a close contact exposure to COVID-19 are not allowed to participate during their quarantine period. 
 
People with these symptoms may have COVID-19: 
  • Fever or chills 
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing 
  • Fatigue 
  • Muscle or body aches 
  • New loss of taste or smell 
  • Nausea or vomiting 
  • Diarrhea 
 
1. All players grades 6th-8th regardless of age will be required to provide a negative antigen test to the league once a week prior to participation in the activities on Saturday of the same week.  
 
2. Avoid “high fives,” “handshakes,” or any other types of post-game physical touching. 
 
3. Coaches may welcome each player as they come to the court but should not make physical contact with the player(s). 
 
4. Have youth and adults wash hands or use hand sanitizer before allowing participation, directly after participation and frequently during the youth activity. 
 
5. Assign a “station” for each player to place their bag/equipment and each player should return to their “station” during breaks or if they are not in the game at that particular time. 
 
6. No one should share water bottles/containers, towels, or any other personal equipment. This includes, but is not limited to: 
• Jersey/uniform 
 
7. If a youth player needs supervision while waiting for pick-up adults should maintain social distancing. 
 
8. No congregating Policy for players and parents in parking lots, at entrance/exit areas of facility before or after training sessions.  
 
9. Maximum of two (2) coaches/volunteers allowed for each team during the practice/games. 
 
10. Only physical contact necessary for practice and games allowed and should be limited. 
 
11. All basketballs should be sanitized before and after practice/games. 
12. Limit close group discussions. 
 
13. Advise at-risk spectators to stay home. 
 
14. It is required that all adult spectators wear a face mask when indoors with youth present.
